I like to observe and engage with how people have used media to communicate in the past, how that’s changed to inform and influence the present state of communication, and use that information as a window into the future.
I could talk about communication and its relationship with how we experience space and time for hours (or probably days, if there were snacks on hand), and as of late I’ve been channeling this passion into social media, which I think is the ultimate example of this relationship as it exists in the present moment.
So what am I doing with all this as far as social media management? I’m working with businesses and organizations to develop strong, cutting-edge social strategies that complement and contribute to their overall marketing efforts. I use real-time analytics and data to measure and improve the power of clients’ social campaigns, whether they’re on Twitter or Tumblr, Facebook or Foursquare. I love watching and helping relationships between brands and consumers grow and flourish. As a social media manager, my ultimate goal is not just to build connections and expand networks, but to create real, solid communities of users who are passionate about a brand’s message.
Right now, I’m managing Facebook and Twitter accounts for a local running specialty store and an ecommerce company. I’m on Foursquare. I’m on Google+. I’m on Instagram. And I’m always exploring new networks and coming up with creative ways that they can be used to strengthen relationships and marketing efforts.
